the most perfect wedding location

Wow! The most magical wedding location and our dreams really did come true 🙂 The wedding day itself and the whole weekend was amazing - everything that we could have hoped for! Chateau de Lisse and it's grounds were such a beautiful setting and it was brilliant to have our family and closest friends staying in the Chateau with us while the rest of our guests stayed in nearby Nerac. All our friends said that it was the best wedding they have been to 🙂

Truth be told, at times we were a little frustrated dealing with Joanne in the run up to the wedding. But we never should have been worried - Jo and her team did an excellent job making the chateau look fabulous and ensuring everything ran smoothly! Jean-Marc's food was fantastic and all of our guests were raving about the duck and the BBQ on day 2! All of the wine is from the Chateau's grounds and it was brilliant.

We would definitely recommend a wedding at Chateau de Lisse - we would love to go back and do it again ourselves!!

Things to do

Close to Chateau de Lisse you can find canoes for hire, pony trekking, an ariel assault course for children and adults, archery and within 10 minutes drive there is an 18 hole golf course. Plus plenty of wine tasting, armagnac and gascon cuisine. For the more active we have an all weather tennis court or why not explore the 550 hectares of forest and deer park. Other facilities include a games room with ping-pong, babyfoot and a billiards table.

Local Area

Nerac is a town on the southern edge of the Lot-et-Garonne department of south-west France. The highlight is the castle and it is a pleasant town to spend a morning exploring and there are some interesting medieval buildings to discover around the town which lies on both sides of the Baise River. The historically important Albret region had Nerac as capital and lay on the northern edge of Gascony.

Our Wine

Château de Lisse is set in incomparably beautiful surroundings with a long history of wine making. The chateau is situated in the rolling valleys of the Coteaux d'Agenais, one hour south of Bordeaux and 5 minutes from the pretty market town of Nérac. The present vineyard consists of young vines planted between 2002 and 2005 on the site of the original 19th century vineyard. South-facing slopes on calcareaous clay soils, protected by trees on the north side, give excellent exposure to the sun. 12 hectares are planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere and Tannat for the reds and Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Petit Manseng for the whites.
