Local Area

Nerac is a town on the southern edge of the Lot-et-Garonne department of south-west France. The highlight is the castle and it is a pleasant town to spend a morning exploring and there are some interesting medieval buildings to discover around the town which lies on both sides of the Baise River. The historically important Albret region had Nerac as capital and lay on the northern edge of Gascony.

Our Wine

Château de Lisse is set in incomparably beautiful surroundings with a long history of wine making. The chateau is situated in the rolling valleys of the Coteaux d'Agenais, one hour south of Bordeaux and 5 minutes from the pretty market town of Nérac. The present vineyard consists of young vines planted between 2002 and 2005 on the site of the original 19th century vineyard. South-facing slopes on calcareaous clay soils, protected by trees on the north side, give excellent exposure to the sun. 12 hectares are planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere and Tannat for the reds and Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Petit Manseng for the whites.
